Underwater Exhibit
One is reminded of the mysterious stone heads on Easter Island and the terracotta warriors unearthed in China, but the underwater sculptures unveiled at Mexico’s Cancun Marine Park last week are brand new. British artist Jason de Caires Taylor made 400 life-size statues, casts from molds of real people, from an 85-year-old nun to a three-year-old boy. Then the concrete figures were sunk in shallow water that could be seen by divers, snorkelers and from glass-bottom boats.
What is billed as the world’s first underwater museum is unsettling yet mesmerizing to view. Its purpose isn’t purely art for art’s sake. Coral reefs, especially in clear tropical waters, are a major tourist attraction. The Cancun Marine Park draws more than 750,000 visitors per year, and continuous contact with the reefs damages the delicate coral system. Taylor, who is the founder and artistic director of Museo Subacuatico del Arte (MUSA), saw his “Silent Evolution” underwater exhibit as a way to use art in the service of environmental conservation. By creating a new tourist attraction, the goal is to relieve stress on the natural coral reefs to give them time to regenerate and grow, while offering tourists something unique and amazing to explore.

HALLELUJAH!!! Its December 1st!!!!! I am excited for this day for two reasons…first, my Pandora account is FINALLY back, I exhausted my free listening around mid November and was forced to listen to grooveshark whilst pretending to work. Secondly, there’s 24 days till Santa comes!!! The happiest time of the year!!!!!!!! I adore Christmas and am a Martha Stewart in training, so naturally, during this season I am pumped for so many things. My sister is creating a calendar of her favorite holiday activities and she is doing a 32 days of Christmas list. This includes daily spirit for spreading Holiday Cheer! Along with watching Elf and going to local Tree Lighting’s she has special things planned for everyday. So, to get into this I have created a list of things I am excited for…
Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You”—-Baking cookies, like, all day then bringing those cookies to work and to the doormen at my building—-Christmas windows on Fifth Avenue—-Ice skating at Rockefeller center and/or Central Park—-A large consumption of hot chocolate with way too many marshmallows of course—-Chai lattes—-Holiday onesies—-The Family Stone on repeat—-Snuggling with my bf and watching the snowfall—-Researching Holiday recipes nonstop to prepare for my xmas dinner (first attempt)—-Taking a Christmas card photo with my roomie and handing them out to our entire building, while trying to keep a straight face—-Saying Merry Christmas all the time…for example when I get off the elevator, after I finish buying groceries, or after buying movie tickets…you know, like all the time—-Chopping down a Christmas Tree with my bf—-Having a white Christmas—-Shopping for gifts for loved ones—-Midnight mass on xmas eve—-Having Hanukkah dinner at my bffs house mmmm latkes!!!—-Singing Christmas carols—-Buying Mistletoe—-Decorating my apt—-ELF on Broadway :)—-Eggnog with baileys—-Home Alone 2/The Grinch/The Santa Claus—-Putting a wreath on my bf’s car…yes adam…i will—-Pine scented candles—-My fur boots!!!! And my fur jackets!!!!—-Getting my nails painted very Holiday-ish (similar to when you had braces and did alternating red and green bands)—-FINALLY buying chestnuts and other goodies from the street vendors because that’s SO Christmassy—-Christmas in Connecticut.
Just to name a few!!!!!!!!!
xxx

EVA BRUGGMAN= NEW OBSESSION
I have actually officially found the absolute most romantic jewelry on Earth. Created by Eva Bruggman, it is so unique in every sense of the word. Her pieces are truly works of art and I cannot say enough good things about them. When I first came across her website I was truly shocked by the individuality each one of her pieces has, which to me, is really important. I love jewelry, like every woman, but I find Tiffany’s to be disgusting as well as most all “cookie cutter” company’s that are similar. The special thing about her work is how you can create a secret message on her rings and it will be done in braille script. How beautiful is that? Ya you can get anything engraved but then every fucking person knows what it says. This is so special to the recipient of the gift because of the true intimacy.

touch type
the touch type is a ring with the visible words I FEEL HOW MUCH YOU LOVE ME engraved in mirror-image, where the words I LOVE YOU are written in touchable braille scripthttp://www.eve-design.ch/d/page_d/kollektion_serienschmuck_fing_d.htm

What It Is…
It is the result of a year of prototype evolution, made entirely of solid wood, by hand, in America.
KOOSTIK is the natural alternative to electronically amplified iPhone sound docks.
Using only the iPhone’s built in speaker, it acoustically amplifies the volume output by 2 to 4 times! Think of a solid body guitar that’s unplugged-you strum the strings and get a little bit of sound. But if those strings are placed over a hollow body guitar and you strum the strings-you suddenly have acoustic music. The same principal is at work with KOOSTIK. Simply place your iPhone into the center cradle, and immediately you hear your music acoustically amplified!
The KOOSTIK is designed so it works with all generations of iPhone. All of the external buttons and controls of the phone are easily accessible while the phone is docked in the KOOSTIK. We believe it is the perfect marriage of Technology and Nature!
